For the medical establishment to prescribe placebos to FMS patients who trust that they’re going to help them – who trust that they BELIEVE their pain is very real – this placebo practice is deceptive and demeaning to the sufferer with FMS. This study says a lot in the way of just how far we yet have to go in obtaining real help. Placebos say “I don’t believe you” to the FMS patient/sufferer.

I hate to disagree, but I feel that, provided the doctor is actually paying attention to your needs and using the Plasebo to assess them for a limited time only I have no objection. If my doctor wishes to trial a plasebo, provided it is a sugar pill only, to see whether it is the medication or my perception that is causing me distress. But for a limited time, my report expected for or against.

Really tired of the “Ya, it’s your over active imagination, you hypochondriac” reaction most give to the term Fibromyalgia…TRUST me, though…no ‘sugar pill’ is gonna cure my pain…no matter how nice the Dr. says it….but what a crummy practice…it’s like telling your patient…’I don’t have time for your imaginary pain, take this and leave me alone, you are an idiot…”

I donot agree with given Fibro patients a placebo, we already are treated like it’s all in our head when it is very real and painfull and stops us from everyday living . I don’t want anyone to live with what I do. But one day would make them understand it is” Real”.Your Muscles spasms,and brushing up on something that hurts your skin. your head hurts to touch.Tell me it’s not real.
